Mountain Falls Millwork is a locally owned family business. The owner, Randy Rickard, is originally from the Shenandoah Valley. He has been crafting furnishings and unique custom building projects since 1983. He started the business with his wife, Harriet, in 1994. They have two sons, Kenny and Mitchell, who both were raised in Northern Virginia. Their oldest son, Kenny currently serves in the U.S. military. Their other son, Mitchell, has always had a passion for the craft. In high school, Mitchell represented Fairfax County and the state of Virginia winning his regional and state competition trade show in carpentry moving him to the national level where he won 14th place in his field. Mitchell has grown up in the family business and has been working full time with his dad for the past 5 years.
What makes Mountain Falls different, besides being a local family business, we also source as much as possible from our regional area. In 2017, Mountain Falls Millwork added a sawmill and kiln to the operations. We source local logs that are from urban tree removals or from local farms which saves this useful commodity from going to the landfill or from being cut up for firewood. Each tree gives us an incredibly unique opportunity to create a custom project even sourcing a tree or wood from someone’s own property. Our millwork expertise highlights the unique grains and textures that many other companies are not able to harvest and use.
We take pride in the finished product. Every project is handled and personally inspected by either Randy or Mitchell through the entire process ensuring a good quality before it leaves the shop. Call us today to design and build your special project!
